I don't think American answerers will know who Smith's are, but I assume you're talking about W. H. Smith's in the UK.

The answer is that not all the Lady Gaga CDs are censored, but it appears that all those on sale - standard + deluxe/special edition - in the UK and US are.

Explicit, uncensored versions of The Fame %26amp; The Fame Monster were released for the Australian and Japanese markets. Buyers in the UK and US could get hold of them by ordering them as imports (I'm not sure W. H. Smith's will do this, but Tower and HMV certainly will). Of course you'll have to pay import CD prices.

It seems odd, almost like treating certain markets like adults and others as corruptible innocents. The short answer to your question is that there are uncensored versions of previous Lady Gaga CDs and I'm sure that the same will be true for Born This Way. But the ones on sale for the British and American markets are censored.

With The Fame Monster, I believe the initial European and US CD versions were censored and then, 9 months to a year later, the explicit version was released. It's a sales tactic. The initial releases are all censored, so parents feel comfortable handing over cash for their kids to get the CD. Then, when most hardcore fans have the album (what real fan is going to wait 9 months for a new CD?), they're given the option of buying the album - again - to get the unexpurgated version.

So for the time being, it's buy the censored version or wait. Unless you want to pay extra for the imported CD from Japan or Australia.
I don't think they sold The Fame Monster uncensored in stores, it was only available on iTunes months and months later. I also don't think The Fame was even uncensored. I bought it at Target and all the cuss words weren't censored, she just didn't drop the "f" bomb or anything like that.

Well no at least not yet I don't know how long it will take 9 months or more or they may not release them at all I think it's unfair I'm 19 and I can't find work yet (stupid economy) so I had to save my butt off, I got it at best buy for like 14 bucks and some cents and I thought best buy means uncensored but I was wrong when I heard the beeps in government hooker and some other songs I was like this is some bull s*it I feel that all the fans that got her censored album should let her know they want it uncensored and if they purchased it on i-tunes or in stores like target or best buy they should show there receipts to the stores and exchange it for the uncensored one and as for itunes re-download it, it's the least she could do for her deticated fans that spent money on her album.
I just bought it at best buy and the swears are also censored...The same thing happened to me when the fame monster came out, I bought it and it was editted, but there were no copies that had the explicit content sticker.

well of course they are going to censor it, possibly because the record companies did not want her to swear on the new and amazing album of born this way
She wouldn't write an album with obscenities just to have every copy be censored. Buy it online or at a record store.
If you bought it from WAL MART or Target, then yes.
Every copy that I have seen is censored in the U.S.
